A Gift from the Heart: Simply Smile Offers Dental Cleaning in Surrey to Children of Single Mothers on July 22nd

To assist underserved and vulnerable people in the Surrey community, Suji Kang, founder and dental hygienist at Simply Smile, is teaming up with the Gift from the Heart Foundation in collaboration with Mom2Mom to host an event for single mothers and their children on Friday, July 22nd, 2022.

Apart from regular services, Suji and her team provide oral care and education to children. Preventative dental care is vital for little ones because it helps identify and stop costly dental issues before they start. Services include:

• Sealants
• Fluoride treatments 
• Educational around brushing & flossing

Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh recently proposed a dental plan aimed at children. The plan would cover 6.5 million people and save the average Canadian Family $1200 per year. It’s a calculated step because poor hygiene can result in severe illness and hospitalization if bacteria enters the bloodstream. Through the BC Healthy Kids Program, the provincial government also provides up to $2000 for two years to children under 18 and from low-income families for dental, optical, and hearing services.
